Vintage Army Trunk

It seems like every year when my mom and I go on the Nebraska Junk Jaunt, I end up with a collection
of something…you know more than one of the same thing but in different sizes, styles, and colors as
well as being made of different materials.  Well last year was no exception and I came home with many
trunks.  I stacked them in my room for storage but this one ended up in my living room as my footstool.
Did I take before pictures? Of course not.  It started out black but in some places I could see some
orange peaking through.  So I took out my annie sloan paints and began.  This was one of those times
that I had no plan and those are some of the best plans to have as my creativity was not limited to a
picture or an idea already formed in my mind.
I first painted the trunk cream and then taped off the stripes and grabbed my duck egg blue and striped
away.  Then began the process of sanding the piece down so that I could see some of that amazing
orange peaking through.  I have been trying to add in a little orange here and there as it is 2012’s “color
of the year” and  because I just like it!
Then I began waxing with Annie Sloan waxes and was so happy with the end result.
